Seamus Mc Goldrick (aka Shambles) will be no stranger to visitors to Strandhill in County Sligo. He will often be seen riding the waves of the Wild Atlantic Way, and encouraging and teaching others to do the same.
Seamus grew up beneath the shadow of Queen Maeve’s grave on Knocknarea in Strandhill, County Sligo and began bodyboarding at Strandhill Beach when he was just 10 years old. He has travelled the world competing in a variety of bodyboaring and surfing competitions. On 1 February 2018, Sligo Surf Experience was born and enabled Seamus to share his knowledge gained from over twenty years in the ocean.
The Sligo Surf Experience is an adventure that you will never forget. If you’ve never surfed before, Seamus and his team of surf instructors will show you how to catch your first wave in a safe, fun environment. If you choose a surf lesson you can join a group, catch your first wave and practice getting up on your surfboard in one, two or three easy steps. Your friendly surf instructor will guide you through the whole 2.5 hour surf experience. If you can already surf, Sligo Surf Experience will help you improve your skills.
If you don’t want to be part of a group, you can book a private surf lesson with Sligo Surf Experience. This is for over 16s, and is available as either a 1:1 session or 1:2 if you’d like to bring a friend.
If you are looking for an adventure for those aged between 9 and 16, check out the Ocean Warrior Surf Camps. The camps run for 5 days and are personally supervised by head coach Seamus Mc Goldrick. The aim of the Ocean Warrior surf camp is to change attitudes and behaviours towards the water and ensure each student leaves with lifelong ocean awareness and water safety. The program aims to develop confidence and social skills while creating a new sporting interest.
