Our meet-up point is the yellow Sligo Surf Experience van at the back of the centre. You can’t miss us.
There two car parks which are free of charge to use: the seafront car park and the main car park. The seafront car park is often full, especially in summer. There are plenty of spaces in the main car park on Shore Road located two hundred metres from the seafront promenade at Strandhill Beach.
If driving, please aim to arrive early (15 minutes before the start time) to find a parking space. Please try to be on time for your surf session otherwise you may keep other surfers waiting. If you are late, the surf lesson may start without you.
What to bring
You need to bring swimming gear to wear under the wetsuit supplied and a towel for changing. Bringing a backpack for your belongings is also advisable. The surf school supplies the rest of the necessary surfing equipment: premium soft learner boards, super warm 5mm Tiki wetsuits and surf boots.
Pricing, payments and age requirements
Group surf experiences for adults cost €40 per person.
You can pay for your lesson in advance at https://www.sligosurfexperience.com/surf-lessons/

After our meet and greet at the Sligo Surf Experience surf van, you or your group will be asked to sign-in for the surf lesson. Everyone must sign-in before their surf session. We operate on a no sign – no surf policy.
Our surf experiences last approximately 2.5 hours from start to finish including a meet and greet, changing time and a 2-hour surf lesson.
We hope you trust us when we say you will have a safe, fun and enjoyable time.
Disclosure
Our surf sign-in process requires you to disclose any medical issues or special needs you or your group may have that the Sligo Surf Experience manager should be aware of. Apart from discussing any issues, if necessary, with your surfer’s instructor, we treat any disclosure with strict confidentiality.
Changing
After your sign-in, you will get your own washed and sanitized wetsuit and surf boots to keep you warm for the duration of your surf lesson. Hot and cold showers as well as changing facilities are available on-site at the National Surf Centre for Sligo Surf Experience customers.
You can store your belongings with our surf school at the meeting point while you are on the beach.
The lesson
Your surf instructor will guide you through the entire experience. When you are changed, your instructor(s) will guide you to the beach where you will collect your surfboard. On the beach, you will listen to a short demo and safety talk from your instructor. First is a brief introduction, instruction on surfing ABCs with basic water safety and then a quick practice on the sand before hitting the ocean to practice what you’ve learned. In the water, we hope you’ll catch the wave of your life. Warning surfing is addictive and may lead to considerable thrills and spills.
After the lesson, you will return to the surf school, collect your belongings, get changed and place the wetsuits and boots in a bucket for sanitization.
